چکیده

The plague can be symbolically interpreted as a deadly ideology that led to the deaths of several million people and subsequent erasure these traumatic events from collective memory. This paper takes closer look at literary representations Holodomor, Great Famine 1932–1933, in English-language children’s literature Ukrainian diaspora, using example first edition picturebook Tell Me Story, Babushka (2019) by Carola Schmidt, an author Ukrainian-Brazilian origin, illustrated Vinicius Melo. article highlights relationship between two complementary narrative voices Schmidt Melo use familiarize their young readers with Holodomor. also shows despite generalizations present Babushka, succeed bringing subject matter Holodomor without being misleading. Moreover, due universal nature fairytale educational values it conveys, provoke extratextual discussions about culture.
